The Clonmel Garden Centre was very first established in the 1970s. Back then, the centre was merely a small operation situated in the quaint Anglesey Street, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. As time went by, the centre was then acquired by some others and relocated nearby the Cahir Road Roundabout. Here was when the company’s success and reputation really began to grow and grow.
Beth and Terry Hanna later purchased the centre in 1988 and the business was repositioned to Glenconnor House, the couple’s home. As the years went on, Clonmel Garden Centre began to prosper and the addition of their son Chris Hanna, a garden centre expert, only heightened the centres status and success. Gradually, the centre became one of the more well-known and respected Garden Centres throughout the whole of Ireland.
Success gave way to expansion of the centre and soon we started growing an extensive range of exclusive bedding plants and shrubs which allowed our customers to purchase high-quality products with an extremely attractive price tag.
1999 was a huge year for us, as the centre added on an astounding 5,000 sq. ft. retail shop and fabulous restaurant. The additions caused us to go from strength to strength and before long the centre achieved a 4 star garden centre quality award. Ever-prevailing, in 2003, when the ‘Celtic Tiger’ was in full swing and our business was doing great, we decided to add on a brand new shop and undercover retail area in order to enhance our customers’ experience that little more.
And as one chapter closes another begins as it was in 2011, when Clonmel Garden Centre was handed over to the current owner; Chris Hanna.
